Fredrick “Dale” Chance, Sr., of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, the 19th day of June 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Fisher, Louisiana on the 19th day of September 1933 to parents Raymond Tillman Chance and Alma Eugenia Owers Chance.
Mr. Chance leaves behind his devoted wife Martha Deen Stinson Chance; sons, Frederick Dale Chance, Jr. and wife Robin, Eddie Ray Chance and husband Warren Nelson; daughters, Sharon Renee Ayoub and husband George, Diane Marie Davis and husband Reagan, and Paula Annette Buckner; grandchildren, Andy Chance, Will Chance, Kristina Ingerto, Shannon Gallegos, Jacob Ayoub, Rachel Friou, Tyler Stephens, Jessica Diffie, Katherine Royer, and Karolyn Buckner; along with ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by other family members and friends.
Mr. Chance is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alma Chance; first wife, Willie Mae Bigham Chance; son-in-law, Brett Buckner; sisters, Juanita Bailey, and Anita Bailey; and his brothers, Don Chance and Dan Chance.
After graduating from Hornbeck High School in Louisiana, Mr. Chance embarked on a career in the oil field and retired as a measurement supervisor for DOW Pipeline. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own company in Lafayette, Louisiana, CBS Metering Inc., which thrived under his leadership and became a testament to his business sense.
He was a man of deep faith. The example he set in life will always be testimony of his legacy to his family and all those fortunate enough to know him. He lived as he died, a Christian.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather all best describe Mr. Chance. He was a man of profound wisdom, who was mechanically minded and could fix anything. He loved his grandchildren immensely and he always enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Chance had a kind and caring heart which was displayed throughout his life. He was always willing to help someone in need. Mr. Chance was significantly loved by his family and friends and his absence will be felt forever until the day we see him again.
A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Chance’s life is to be conducted at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, the 28th day of June 2025 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Rev. Donal Chance, Jr. will be officiating the service.
