Gary Chatham Obituary

Gary Ford Chatham, a stalwart of warmth and wisdom, entered the arms of Jesus his Savior on Wednesday, the 1st day of January 2025, at the age of 83. Born on the 31st day of March 1941, in Waco, Texas to Ford Chatham and Charlcie Owens Chatham, Gary lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his profession, and his passions.

After graduating from Waco High School in 1959, Gary’s thirst for knowledge and his passion for helping others led him to pursue a career in law. He earned his degree from Baylor Law School in 1967, a testament to his dedication and intellect. Gary dedicated his professional life to the practice of law, serving diligently until his retirement from the City of Plano. His legal career was distinguished not only by his professional accomplishments but also by the integrity and compassion he brought to every case and client he represented.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, where his faith and fellowship were an integral part of his life. His leadership and commitment to his passions were evident in his role as President of the Browning Collectors Association, where he shared his love for firearms with fellow enthusiasts.

Gary's interests were as wide-ranging as they were fervent. He was an avid golfer, relishing the challenge and camaraderie found on the greens. His love for collecting Browning guns was matched by his skill in selling firearms, a testament to his deep knowledge and respect for the craft. Travel was another of Gary's joys, and he often reminisced about his trip to Australia—a highlight among his many adventures around the world. Gary found peace and excitement in hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to connect with nature and instill a respect for the environment in those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ford and Charlcie Chatham.

Family was the cornerstone of Gary's world. He is survived by his loving wife, Delphine "Della" Chatham, who was his partner in life and adventure for countless years, and his daughter, Cynthia Rondeau (Stace), who, along with her husband Stacie, continued to bring joy to Gary's life. His brother, Jerry Chatham, and wife Valree shared in the close-knit family bond that Gary held so dearly. The legacy of his love and guidance will live on through his four-adored grandchildren, each a testament to his enduring influence.
