Genevie Paul, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her devoted family on Tuesday, the 13th day of August 2024. She was 86 years of age when the Lord called her home. Ms. Paul was born in Mildred, Texas, on the 17th day of March 1938 to parents Arthur Coker and Annie Mosley.
Ms. Paul's passion for life was evident in her simple pleasures and hobbies. She found solace and joy in the company of birds, often spending hours in her garden, feeding them and basking in the tranquility of nature. Her love for gospel music was profound, filling her home with soulful melodies that spoke to her faith and uplifted her spirit. Puzzle books were another source of enjoyment for her, providing not just entertainment but also a testament to her sharp and inquisitive mind.
A true animal lover at heart, Ms. Paul's affection for dogs was unmatched. Her furry companions were not just pets but members of her family, receiving the same love and care she extended to all. Her enthusiasm for the Texas Rangers was infectious, and she could often be found cheering on her favorite team, demonstrating her unwavering support through thick and thin.
Above all, Ms. Paul cherished her family. They were the cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured each relationship with an abundance of love and kindness. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Ms. Paul is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Annie Coker; son, Michael Paul; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Paul; son-in-law, Sammy Brown; sisters, Betty Sanchez and Lois McLeary; brothers Winston Coker, Orion Coker, Bobby Coker, Floyd Coker, Clinton “Jelly” Coker, and Jimmy Dee Coker; and her special friend, Leroy.
Ms. Paul will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her loving, kind, and friendly nature will be remembered fondly, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of many. She is survived by her loving children, daughter, Charlotte Brown, of Palestine, Texas; sons, Gary Paul and wife Melody of Palestine, Texas, Ronnie Paul of Elkhart, Texas, and David Paul and wife Dena of Palestine, Texas; sister, Lillie Laney; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Graveside services to celebrate Genevie Paul’s life are to be conducted at half past two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 18th day of August 2024 at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Texas.
Ms. Paul’s grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to give a special “thank you” to Ms. Paul’s caregivers Doris Howell, and the staff at Legacy at Town Creek and Solaris Hospice.
