Ginny Ferguson Obituary

Ginny Crain Ferguson, age 67, of Slocum, was called home to live eternally with her loving Lord and Savior on Sunday, the 20th day of September 2020.  Mrs. Ferguson was born in Slocum, Texas, on the 5th day of November 1952 to parents Jim Reed and Melba Hogan Reed.

Mrs. Ferguson lived, in what is known to many, as “Reedville” her entire life.  It is where she was born, grew up, made friendships, raised her family and made a long career.  She began working for Slocum I.S.D. in 1987 and devoted much of her time until her retirement in 2016.  During Mrs. Ferguson’s tenure, she was a substitute teacher, librarian, and bus driver.  She was probably best known for her role as a bus driver because she always made it a fun experience for the children.  Mrs. Ferguson was a devout Christian and a member of Denson Springs Baptist Church.  She loved to spend time with her family and friends playing domino games and sitting at the Bubba Dome were two activities that she often enjoyed.

Mrs. Ferguson is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Melba Reed; sisters, Donna Evers and Betty Hemphill; brothers, Malon Reed and Gary Reed.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Curtis Ferguson; children, Karesha Crain of Slocum, Brandon Crain and wife Amy Swears of Round Rock, Adam Crain and wife Jenny of Slocum; step-children, Ricky Ferguson and Don Ferguson; brother, Larry Reed and wife Joyce; sisters-in-law, Kay Reed and Judy Reed.  Mrs. Ferguson is also survived by her grandchildren, Kalie, Andee, Kloie, Kirsten, Ayden, Jobee, Ayla, Bryce, Loren and Jamie.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family and share memories of Mrs. Ferguson from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Friday, the 25th day of September 2020 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate Ginny Ferguson’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 26th day of September 2020, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Steven Evers and Bro. Jamie Hogan officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Percilla.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Adam Crain, Brandon Crain, Ricky Ferguson, Don Ferguson, Jerod Mock, Collin Mock, Jobee Crain and Ayden Crain.  Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Mock, Brad Hicks, Ben Missildine, Derek Ray, Bubba Cumby, Chris Sbrusch and Chad Minton.

Following the services, all are invited to a reception at Denson Springs Baptist Church.

Due to the present Covid-19 danger, facemasks are required for the visitation and funeral service.
