Helen Mae Dunnahoe, age 88, of Montalba, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Dogwood Trails Assisted Living. She was born on September 14, 1937, to parents Erwin Matthew Galloway and Vura Mae High Galloway.
A devout Christian, Ms. Dunnahoe was a member of Montalba Baptist Church for over 80 years, where her presence was a constant source of comfort and inspiration to the congregation. She dedicated many years of her life to serving her community as a bank teller, a role in which she was not only a guardian of finances but also a trusted confidante to her customers.
Upon retiring from the bank, Ms. Dunnahoe did not slow down but instead found new ways to contribute to the lives of those around her. She was a beloved Sunday School teacher, sharing her deep Christian faith for generations.
Ms. Dunnahoe's interests were a reflection of the life she led. She found joy in the simplicity of gardening and took great pride in her yard work. The sight of her mowing the lawn or tending to her flowers was a familiar and comforting one to her neighbors. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her love for her family. As a mother and grandmother, she was the epitome of love and an excellent role model. Her children and those who looked up to her saw in her the picture of a life well-lived. Those who knew Ms. Dunnahoe would agree that she was a loving soul, whose wisdom was generously shared and whose faith was unshakeable.
She is preceded in death by her parents Erwin and Vura Mae Galloway, son Timothy Bostic, and her brother Durwood Galloway.
Ms. Dunnahoe is survived by her loving family including her daughters, Sherry Tubbs of Montalba, Texas, and Tana Tunstall of Palestine, Texas; daughter-in-law, Susan Bostic-Shelton of Montalba, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Boyd, Cody Tunstall, Canon Tunstall, Christopher Rawson, Brian Tubbs, Nicholas Tubbs, Kyle Bostic; great-grandchildren, Cash Tunstall, Steel Tunstall, Cohen Tunstall, Cooper Tunstall, Lyndsey Tubbs, Laynie Tubbs, Greyson Tubbs, Ryan Canavan; and one great-great-grandchild, Ezra Perez.
A funeral service to celebrate Helen Dunnahoe’s life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 3rd day of December 2025 at Montalba Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Frazier officiating the service. Interment will follow in Holly Springs Cemetery.
Friends are invited to the church one hour prior to the start of the service to visit with the family.
