James Arthur Turner, age 93, of Tennessee Colony, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, the 16th day of October 2023, in Palestine, Texas. He was born on the 22nd day of September 1930, in Volland, Kansas, to parents James Steven Turner and Ruby Dannevik Turner. Mr. Turner lived a life marked by love, kindness, and selflessness.
A man of many interests, Mr. Turner found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His happiest moments were spent sitting on the front porch with his wife, sipping coffee, and watching the world go by. He was a lover of the outdoors, finding peace and contentment in farming and working with cows. An avid gun collector, he took great pride in his collection, always eager to share his knowledge and passion with others.
Mr. Turner served his country with honor and dedication in the United States Air Force. He was a respected 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #31 in Palestine, Texas. His dedication to these organizations showcased his selfless nature and his desire to contribute positively to his community.
He joins in Heaven his parents James and Ruby Turner, and brother Larry Don Turner.
Mr. Turner was a devoted family man, always putting his loved ones first. He is survived by his loving wife, Celia Turner, his cherished daughter, Terri Bailey, and his stepson, Chuck Jones and wife Suzanne. He was a proud grandparent to Traci Bailey and she held a special place in his heart. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength, love, and kindness.
Friends are invited to a visit with the family and share memories of Mr. Turner from ten o’clock until eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 4th day of November 2023 at Rhone Funeral Home.
A memorial service to honor Mr. Turner’s life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Saturday, the 4th day of November 2023, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Chris Kenner officiating the service. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Rhone Reflection Room.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Mark Woolverton, Chuck Jones, Darwin Lamb, and Erik Gilbertson.
