Jan Carr Obituary

Gay Jan Carr, of Palestine, Texas, left this world for her heavenly home on Monday, the 28th day of October 2024, at the age of 75.  She was born on the 6th day of December 1948 in Alvarado, Texas to parents Robert Timmons and Ruby Mae Watts Timmons.  Mrs. Carr dedicated over 25 years of her life to the public school system, where she touched the lives of countless children with her warmth and dedication.  A woman of God, Mrs. Carr was a devoted member of the Baptist faith, living her beliefs through her actions and the love she spread. She was known for her outgoing personality, a trait that made her a friend to many. Mrs. Carr never met a stranger, and her ability to connect with people was truly remarkable.

Her interests were a reflection of her joyful spirit. An avid fisher, Mrs. Carr found peace and happiness by the water, a pastime that she cherished deeply. She was also incredibly generous, always ready to give of herself to others. Her generosity was not just in material gifts but also in the kindness and care she shared freely.

Mrs. Carr will be remembered as a loving, friendly, and generous lady. Her legacy is one of love, friendship, and boundless generosity, and it will continue to live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruby Timmons, twin sister Ann Hardin, brother Earl Timmons, and her granddaughter Lindsey LeMon.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her husband of 38 years, Charles Carr; daughters, Lisa LeMon and husband Maurice, and Candace McFarland and husband Bill; sons, Jon Carr and wife Ashley Matthews, Charles Randal Carr and wife Stacey, and James Robert Deel.  She also leaves behind her brother James Henry “Boots” Timmons, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Carr will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her.
