Jane Henderson Obituary

A woman whose warmth, grace and faith touched countless lives, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, the 5th of February 2025 at the age of 97.

Jane Hodges Henderson was born on November 11, 1927, in Palestine, Texas to Hayden Judson Hodges and Hattie Belle Berry Hodges. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1945, attended Nixon Business College, then began a career with I.G.N. Railroad in 1946 as a comptometer operator.

On September 2, 1950, Jane married the love of her life, Bob Henderson. After their children were born and in school, she became a partner with her husband in the Bob Henderson Insurance Agency until her retirement in 1990.

Jane accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in September 1954 and was baptized that year. She later became active in many areas of ministry at First Baptist Church of Palestine. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher for the high school girls’ class and later the adult women. Her favorite place of service was as the outreach leader for the class her husband taught for many years.

After her retirement, Jane volunteered in many areas including Meals on Wheels, The Stockpot, First Resource Food Bank, Cartmell Home for the Aged, and the local hospital. She found great joy in helping others and spreading God’s love.

Jane and Bob were married for 65 years until his death in 2015. Their marriage was blessed with 3 children: Tracie Henderson Unger of Palestine, Rob Henderson of Southlake, Jay Henderson and his wife Ria of Kerrville.
