Janet Congleton Obituary

Janet Delores Congleton, of Palestine, Texas, a cherished soul known for her kindness and selflessness, passed away peacefully on the 21st day of December 2024, with her loved ones by her side at the age of 80. Born on the 26th day of November 1944, in Anderson County, Texas, to parents Willard Hurbough and Agnes Morris Hurbough, Mrs. Congleton's life was proof of her staunch dedication to her family, friends and neighbors throughout the community.

After dedicating over two decades of service as the head bookkeeper for First National Bank of Palestine, Mrs. Congleton retired, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and warmth that touched the lives of her colleagues and clients alike. She was a steadfast member of Fields Chapel Methodist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and served her community with grace.

Mrs. Congleton's zest for life was palpable in her hobbies and interests. She was an avid saltwater fisher, finding joy and serenity by the sea. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds; she cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Known for her exceptional hospitality, Mrs. Congleton took great pleasure in entertaining guests. Her cooking was not just a pastime but a way of bringing people together, sharing stories, and nurturing relationships.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Congleton will remember her as the epitome of kindness. She approached every person and every situation with a heart full of generosity and a desire to help. Her selfless nature was evident in everything she did, from the smallest acts of kindness to the most significant gestures of support.

Mrs. Congleton is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Agnes Hurbough, husband John Wesley “J.W.” Congleton, and her brother, Larry Hurbough.

As we bid farewell to Janet Congleton, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she left behind.
