Jannese “Necie” Krause Ward Pitts, age 83, of Oakwood, Texas, joined her loving Lord and Savior in Heaven on Thursday, the 9th day of February 2023. Mrs. Pitts was born on the 18th day of October 1939, in Green Lake, Texas, in Calhoun County. She was the fifth child of eight children born to her late parents Edward Adolph Krause and Peairlee Stotts Krause.
Mrs. Pitts graduated from Bloomington High School in 1958. She went on to work at Edgars Grocery while attending and earning a secretarial certificate at Durham Business School. She then went to Sam Houston College earning an MBA and an MMS, while working at the Texas Department of Corrections. After she and her husband left Huntsville, they moved to Houston where she worked in banking while going to school. She later left there and worked at a CPA firm earning a CPA Certificate by attending tax classes. After the oil crunch in the 1980’s, she went to work at Houston County Electric where she retired from in 1992. She and her husband moved to Oakwood, Texas, at which time she worked at Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She retired in 2002 to take care of her ailing husband. She returned in 2005 as a substitute teacher and stayed until 2013 to again take care of her husband. He later passed in 2016.
Mrs. Pitts was a former member of Oakwood Church of Christ. She loved to read and do needlepoint. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening and traveling after she retired. Her favorite color was red, and she was a fan of John Wayne and Johnny Depp.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Peairlee Krause, husband Clinton Pitts, son Richard Derek Ward, daughter Debra Jane Ward, and her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Ward.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her sister, Leoylian Krause “Kid” Means; brothers, Charles Krause, and Dannie Ray Krause; grandchildren, Serena and Ryan Voight, Paula Jane Nugent, Ferris Ward, Kaysha and Justine, and Travis and Lisa; and her step-grandchildren, Jonathan Pitts, Edward Pitts, Jr., Ashlee Pitts, and Tommie Pitts. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Nathan Sanchez, Vina, and three more great-grandchildren on the way; numerous nieces; nephews; special friends, Linda Musick and Linda Dolhey; and many other friends.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jannese “Necie” Pitts is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 14th day of February 2023 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Dan Manuel officiating.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pitts will be laid to rest the following day in the Prairie Lea Masonic Cemetery at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Wednesday, the 15th day of February 2023, in Fentress, Texas.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Jannese Pitts can be directed towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
