On Monday, March 14, 2022, Jerry Glenn Taylor, age 76, of Palestine, Texas, passed away surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy illness. Jerry was born on April 14, 1945, in Athens, Texas, to Glenn and Christine Shaver Taylor.
Jerry grew up in Athens, Texas where he was an honor graduate from Athens High School, captain of the A.H.S. basketball team, played on the baseball team, and was a senior class officer. Jerry was a retired Mechanical Engineer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington. Jerry was a Registered Professional Engineer with the State of Texas.
His engineering background included working as a design engineer, principal engineer, project manager, construction manager and consulting engineer for Fluor TAC; CSI Inc.; G&W Engineers; NASA, NSBF, and ALCOA.
Jerry is survived by his wife Judy Burke Taylor of Palestine, Texas; his three sons, Cameron Taylor and Marveena Lovelady of Athens, Texas; Brandon and Cara Taylor of Whitehouse, Texas; and Dylan Taylor of Athens, Texas; brother, Larry Taylor of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; sister, Pam Taylor of Athens, Texas; grandchildren, Makayla and Garrett Weaver of Burleson, Texas; Madison Taylor and fiancé Shannen Smith of Tyler, Texas; Reagan Taylor of Whitehouse, Texas. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Reese Weaver of Burleson, Texas; niece, Jill Taylor and Doug Schorzman of Brooklyn, New York; nephew, Russell and Brandi Taylor of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; great-nieces, Maeve and Holland Schorzman of Brooklyn, New York, and Alya and Addison Taylor of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Jerry’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will have a service at a later date.
