Jerry Toole Obituary

Jerry Nolan Toole, of Palestine, Texas, joined his wife, Jan, in Heaven on Friday, the 1st day of March 2024, at the age of 81.  Mr. Toole was born in Port Arthur, Texas on the 16th day of June 1942 to parents Luke Toole and Mildred “Tut” Poole Toole.  Mr. Toole's journey through life was marked by dedication, remarkable character, and a passion for the great outdoors.

Born and raised in the heart of Texas, Mr. Toole pursued higher education at the University of Houston. His academic achievements laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors. Following, Mr. Toole was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Although he did not serve overseas, his time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and commitment that would define his career and personal life.

Mr. Toole's professional life was distinguished by his excellence as an architect, builder, and interior designer. He was the proud co-owner of Miller & Toole Construction for many years, where his expertise and vision brought countless projects to fruition. His dedication to his craft was paralleled by his involvement in the First Baptist Church in Palestine, where he was a devoted member, contributing to the church's new building and its place in the community.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Toole found solace and joy in nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, with a particular fondness for fly fishing. Alongside his beloved wife Jan, who preceded him in death, he traveled to many places around the world, embracing new cultures and experiences. His love for golf was well known, as he spent many days on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golfers.

As we bid farewell to Jerry Toole, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars guide a traveler on a clear night. Mr. Toole's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a part of the lives he touched.

Mr. Toole’s love for his family was evident throughout his life.  He leaves behind his daughter, Jenifer Johnson and husband Tim; son, Jason Toole and wife Melissa; sister, Debrorah Howard; brothers, Harry Toole, and Dennis Toole; and his grandchildren, Luke Johnson, Lizzie Johnson and fiancé Caleb Archer, and Caleb Toole.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  Mr. Toole is preceded in death by his parents Luke and Tut Toole; his beloved wife, Jan Toole; sisters-in-law, Rochelle Toole, and Tina Toole; and his brother-in-law, Don Howard.
