Jerry DeWayne Waldon, age 75, of Montalba, Texas, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, the 11th day of November 2021. Mr. Waldon was born in Houston, Texas, on the 4th day of July 1946, to parents Arvis William Waldon and Norma Virginia Atkins Waldon.
Mr. Waldon, better known as “Yogi”, was a part of the Montalba Community his entire life. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Before retiring, he worked for Barrilleaux, Inc. in Oakwood. Having spent his career in oilfield construction, Mr. Waldon enjoyed building and fixing things around the house. He loved to fish and hunt when he was younger and as he aged, he found joy in riding around his farm. Mr. Waldon was a member of Montalba Baptist Church and the Vietnam Veterans of America Dogwood Chapter 991.
Mr. Waldon joined in Heaven his parents Arvis and Norma Waldon and brother, Norman Waldon.
Mr. Waldon will live on in the hearts of his wife of 51 years, Jackie Waldon; sons, Joshua Waldon and wife Kimberly of Montalba, and Jonathon Waldon of Palestine; sister, Norma Jean Mullican and husband Mike; sister-in-law, Dana Waldon; brothers, Arvis Waldon and wife Nell, Tommy Waldon and wife Lucy, Richard Waldon and wife Liz, Paul Waldon and wife Barbara. Mr. Waldon is also survived by his grandchildren, Destinee Richburg, Kolby Waldon, Tyler Waldon, Abbott Waldon, and Finley Waldon, plus several great-grandchildren and many numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services to honor the life of Jerry “Yogi” Waldon are to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 14th day of November 2021 at Concord Cemetery. The V.V.A. Dogwood Chapter 991 Honor Guard Team will be rendering Military Honors.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be directed towards the V.V.A. Dogwood Chapter 991, P.O. Box 10, Palestine, Texas 75802.
