Jessie Marie Seagler Kraus, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 24th day of January 2024, just two days after celebrating her 105th birthday. She was born on the 22nd day of January 1919, in Corsicana, Texas, to parents Lawrence George Seagler and Lena Mae Atkinson Seagler. Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and faith, leaving behind a legacy of joy and unwavering trust in the Lord.
Born into a world vastly different from the one she left, Mrs. Kraus embraced change with grace and optimism. She dedicated many years of her life to her role as a secretary in several different fields, a position from which she retired in 2001. Her professional life was marked by the same warmth and kindness that she carried into her personal endeavors.
A long-time member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, Mrs. Kraus's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her love for the Lord was evident in her every action and word, inspiring those around her to embrace life with the same spirited devotion.
Those who knew Mrs. Kraus will remember her for her loving nature and the optimistic glow that seemed to radiate from her. She had the best outlook on life, facing each day with a smile that could light up a room. Her spirit was infectious, and she had a unique ability to uplift everyone she encountered.
As we bid farewell to Jessie Kraus, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. Her memory will continue to be a beacon of love and hope to all who were blessed to know her. Mrs. Kraus's journey on earth may have ended, but the impact of her loving, optimistic, and spirited personality will endure forever in the hearts of those she touched.
Mrs. Kraus is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 34 years Bill Kraus, four brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Louise Shaw, and Kay Phillips and husband Don; cousins’ group, Toni Warren, Renee Whitley, Janet Price, and Paula Trigg; as well as her “adopted family” she loved so much, including her close, long-time friends, and caregivers, Carol Worley, Jane Susdorf, Marcy Haas, and Pat Conaway (Prissy), as well as many dearly beloved friends, just too many to mention.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jessie Kraus are to be conducted at half-past two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 28th day of January 2024 at Crockett Road Church of Christ. Dan Manuel will be officiating the service. Interment will follow in Palestine City Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at Crockett Road Church of Christ.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Warren, Mike Whitley, Dwight Franklin, Ben Rhone, Marty Nash, and Steve Camp.
