Joe Sustaita

Joe Sustaita, age 80, of Palestine, passed away into the loving arms of our Lord on Monday, the 20th day of September 2021.  Mr. Sustaita was born in Houston, Texas, on the 23rd day of November 1940, to parents Raymond Sustaita and Jane Mongonia Sustaita.

Mr. Sustaita had an outgoing personality and truly loved people.  If you knew him, he probably had a nickname for you.  He loved spending time, eating, and playing games, with his family and friends.  Mr. Sustaita’s hobbies included hunting and playing cards and dominoes.  He also enjoyed going to the lake and fishing.  Mr. Sustaita had a heart as big as Texas and will be greatly missed by everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Jane Sustaita; first wife, Shirley Sustaita; son, Jimmy Joe Sustaita; and brothers, Raymond Sustaita, Henry Sustaita, and Eugene Sustaita.

Mr. Sustaita leaves behind his wife, Alice Sustaita; daughters, Darla Cretsinger and husband Phillip, and Gayle Hays, all of Palestine; son, Randy Sustaita and wife Belinda of Porter; sisters, Jeanette Lambright and husband Robert Holloway, and Darlene Brown and husband John; brothers, Tony Sustaita and wife Sandy, and Eddie Sustaita and wife Kathryn; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A graveside service to celebrate Mr. Sustaita’s life is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Sunday, the 26th day of September 2021 at Land of Memory Cemetery with Bro. David Malone officiating the service.
