John Edgar Ansley

John Edgar Ansley, age 52, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, the 9th day of April 2022, at Legacy at Town Creek.  He was born in Clute, Texas, on the 4th day of May 1969, to parents Herman Mack Ansley, Sr. and Sophia Pickens Ansley.

Mr. Ansley had a loving and caring heart.  He enjoyed spending time outside fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.  At the age of 13, Mr. Ansley developed a passion for helping others in their time of need.  He would ride his bicycle to the local fire station to assist with daily chores and emergency situations.  He later volunteered for other fire departments and most recently volunteered for the Southside Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Ansley served in the Army National Guard during Desert Storm and was a member of the State Firefighters and Fire Marshals Association of Texas.

Mr. Ansley joins his father, Herman Ansley, Sr., in Heaven.

Mr. Ansley leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Katherine Ansley; mother, Sophia Ansley; mother-in-law, Lela Howard; daughter, Ashley Ansley; son, Justin Ansley and wife Amanda; sister, Janet Burns; brother, Herman Ansley, Jr.; grandchild, L.B. Ansley; and many children that he let in his heart.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock on Friday, the 15th day of April 2022 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate John Ansley’s life is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 16th day of April 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with a Firefighter Final Call.  Immediately following, interment with Military Honors will follow in Buffalo City Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are the Southside Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions can be directed towards the Southside Volunteer Fire Department, 2769 FM 322, Palestine, Texas 75801.
