John Rosenbusch, Jr. Obituary

John William Rosenbusch, Jr., of Palestine, Texas left this world for his eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, the 4th of July 2024. He passed away at Longview Regional Medical Center at the age of 76. John was born in San Antiono, Texas on the 3rd day of February 1948 to parents John William Rosenbusch and Ruth Strunk.

John graduated from San Leandro high school in 1966. He immediately started working at the Union Pacific Railroad the following year and was employed for 37 years. Soon after that he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1970. John attended bootcamp at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California. He enlisted as a Private E1. John served in Vietnam in the 1st Battalion 2nd Marine, ECHO Platoon from 1967-1968 where he earned National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medical w/*, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat action Ribbon, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. John ended his military career as an Administrative Assistant in 1970, during that year he received his second award for the Good Conduct Medal. John was a member of the 1st Marine Division Group where he made lifelong friendships. John enjoyed Westerns, Rock & Roll, Cars, Electronics, and was an avid History buff.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Ruth Rosenbusch, Sr., and his loving sister Karen Tavares.

John married DeAnna Rosenbusch in 1993. Their union gave him his greatest blessing, his daughter Jenna Nicole Friedman (Destry). He leaves to cherish his memory his angel DeAnna Rosenbusch; daughter, Jenna Friedman (Destry); God daughter, Claudette Huitt (Dartagan); brother, Glynn Rosenbusch, and Coeur d’Alene; sisters, Susan Estrada, of Lincoln, California, Patricia Shiffer (Grant), and Julie Fulk both of Modesto, California. John had a host of nieces and nephews that he loved and adored. John shared a special friendship with the following for over 50 years; Steve and Judy Barker, Randy Hughy, and Mark Slezac. He had a special friendship with Timothy and Michelle Dunn, Benard and May Moore, Mary Hartman, Chester and Amanda Cheatham, Kemper Gleason, Judye Calloway, and Courtney Davis.

The family will conduct a private celebration of John’s life with military honors at a later date.
