Jonathan Chapman Obituary

Jonathan Bentley Chapman, age 44, of Lufkin, Texas, was called home by his loving Lord on Saturday, the 2nd day of July 2022.  Mr. Chapman was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 23rd day of May 1978 to parents Frank Chapman and Kathryn Dawn Bentley Chapman.

Jonathan was a graduate of Grapeland High School, where he formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime.  He was a participant in the Special Olympics and gave it his all in the Shot Put. Jonathan had a great sense of humor.  He was always joking around with others and having a good time.  Jonathan’s hobbies included fishing, going to the deer lease, and cheering for his favorite team, the Lufkin Panthers Football Team, on Friday nights.

Jonathan had a deep love for his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and family reunions were always a treasured event. His favorite holiday was Christmas and as a boy he looked forward every year to sitting in his front yard and watching his neighbors, the Meador’s, decorate their yard for Christmas.  Jonathan was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed but never forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Chapman; uncles, Lawrence Ray Chapman and Tommy Lynn Chapman; and niece, Laney Reana Chapman.

Jonathan will live on in the lives of his family and friends including his father Frank Chapman, of Grapeland, Texas; brothers, Stephen Chapman and wife Sabrina, and Michael Chapman and wife Rachel, all of Grapeland, Texas; uncles and aunts, Kenneth Bentley and wife Carolyn, DeeAnn Chapman Reppond, Emma Chapman, and Paulette Chapman.  Jonathan is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Carson, Cailyn, Asher, and Blaikley, and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Jonathan Chapman’s life are to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 9th day of July 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Grapeland with Bro. Jack Chelf and Bro. Todd Chapman officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Guiceland Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at the First Baptist Church.
