Julie (Platt) Richie

Julie Richie, age 55, of Grapeland, Texas passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, the 14th day of March 2022. She was born on the 12th day of December 1966, in Houston, Texas to parents John L. (Jack) and Sereta Nell “Baker” Platt.

Julie loved her family and adored her grandchildren. For those of you that knew Julie, you knew her love for 80’s and 90’s music.  Julie enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Grapeland, Texas. Her laugh and smile will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.  

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Sereta Platt; grandparents, Nathan and Olive Baker and Truman and Maggie Platt.

Julie leaves behind her loving husband, Lawrence Richie; sons, Ryan Richie and wife Amanda of Grapeland, Justin Richie and wife Tabitha of Grapeland; sister Lisa McMahan and husband Donnie of Palestine; grandkids, Chanellor Francis, Kaylee Martin and husband Spencer, Samantha, Abby, and Emily Richie; special grandkids, Emma and Mack Rhone; mother-in-law, Linda Richie; brother-in-law, David Richie and wife Lori; niece, Allison McMahan; nephews, Jacob Richie and Jason McMahan; special friends, Eddie and Toni Childress.

Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at First Baptist Church Grapeland.

Funeral service for Julie Richie is to be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 16th day of March 2022 at First Baptist Church Grapeland with Dr. David Bradley officiating.  Interment will follow in Augusta Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chanellor Francis, Spencer Martin, Jason McMahan, Randy Benner, Caleb Rhone, Mitchell Huff, and Chris Diehl.
