Katherine Sue Baker, of Palestine, Texas, left this world on Friday, the 14th day of October 2022, at the age 72, at Trucare Living Centers. Katherine was born on the 10th day of June 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri to parents Buford C. Baker and Rosetta Louise Cantrell Baker.
After completing high school, Katherine attended St. Mary’s College in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, North Oaks College in Gladstone, Missouri, and Missouri Western College in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Katherine was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother who took excellent care of her family and devoted her life to raising her children. Katherine found Christ as her savior on the 3rd day of November 1961 and in 2000 converted to Catholicism. She enjoyed reading all kinds of books, but her love for history was unquestionable. In her spare time, she would sew, scrapbook, or color in her adult coloring books. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Buford C. Baker and Rosetta Louise Baker; sister, Cordella Rose Johnson; and son, David Cordell Morgan.
Katherine is survived by her sons; Darrell Dennis Morgan, Jr. and wife LaDonna of Lathrop, Missouri, and Clayton Lyn Morgan and wife Alicia of Grove, Oklahoma; sisters, Mary Lou Baker of Palestine, Texas, Janet N. Johnson of Lake Jackson, Texas, Eva Mae Schmoeller and husband Joe of Palestine, Texas, Jodi Mullikin of Winston, Missouri, Lynn E. Baker of Gladstone, Missouri, Pamela Glazier and husband Bill of Liberty, Missouri; brother, Buford C. Baker, Jr. and wife Marsha of Lathrop, Missouri. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, McKenzie Fay Darr and husband Haden, Kaitlyn Morgan, Kyle Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Damon Morgan and wife Sarah, Kia Morgan, Cordella Morgan, Vance Morgan, Guy Morgan, and Whitney Stogsdill and husband Keylon; five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private service to celebrate Katherine Baker’s life on Saturday, the 22nd day of October 2022, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Magnolia Ferry.
Cremation services for Katherine Sue Baker are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
