Mitchell “Keith” Carnes, age 59, of Elkhart, Texas, left this world on Saturday, the 3rd day of February 2024, and is now in the presence of our loving Lord and Savior. Keith was born in Palestine, Texas on the 21st day of December 1964 to parents Mitchell Carnes and Barbara Wilson Carnes.
Keith was a cherished member of the Elkhart community, where he dedicated over three decades to his craft as a skilled mechanic and the proud owner of Highway Automotive until 2015. His work was not just a job but a means to connect with and serve others, a testament to his genuine spirit and commitment to his neighbors.
Keith's heart of gold was evident to all who knew him. He was a member of Evangelistic Temple, and he lived by the principle that true charity is the one given in secret, a reflection of the Bible verse, Matthew 6:3-4. His discreet acts of kindness were countless, and he found joy in the simple pleasure of helping others without seeking recognition. His generosity extended beyond his human connections, as he also found solace in the outdoors, caring for his cows, and embracing the tranquility of nature. Keith's love for the outdoors was matched only by his passion for helping people. Whether it was fixing a neighbor's car or lending an ear, he was always there for anyone in need.
Family was the cornerstone of Keith's life. He poured his love into every family gathering, cherishing the moments spent with his loved ones above all else. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
As we say goodbye to Keith, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to live on. Keith's life was a beautiful journey of joy, compassion, and laughter, and he will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
Keith joins in Heaven his parents Mitchell and Barbara Carnes, grandparents Orun and Addie Prater Carnes, and W.R. and Lura Wilson, and his infant brother Michael Carnes.
Left with wonderful memories to always cherish are his loving wife, Angie Carnes; sister, Melanie Beshears and husband Jeff, of Buffalo, Texas; nephews, Ross Beshears and Cade Beshears; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and many friends.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday, the 5th day of February 2024 at Rhone Funeral Home.
