Kenneth "Ken" Howard Calcote

Kenneth Howard Calcote, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, the 30th day of May 2022.  He was 62 years of age.  Ken was born in Palestine, Texas, to parents Howard and Althea Moore Calcote on the 31st day of December 1959. 

Ken attended Palestine High School and then went on to receive an associate degree from Trinity Valley Junior College.  During this time, he worked for Richard Reed Surveyors. He then moved to Houston to work for Brown and Root, followed by Intergraph, and then many years with IBM.  Ken’s last years were spent working for the Better Business Bureau of Houston as a District Service Manager.

Ken enjoyed many years of traveling all over the world.  He loved to cook and enjoyed walking his beloved dog, Harry, just so he could visit with his neighbors.  Ken lived in the Heights neighborhood in Houston and loved having the neighborhood kids use his pool.  Most of all, he loved his family and all the time they were able to spend together.

Ken joins in Heaven his parents, Howard and Althea Calcote.

Ken leaves behind two sisters, Linda Barnett and husband Toby of Palestine, Texas, and Nancy Linstrom and husband Mike of Ft. Worth, Texas; nieces Krystal Magee and husband Andy, Tobie Pond and husband Chad, Meagan Linstrom, Emily Linstrom, and Alexis Linstrom.  He is also survived by great nieces Haley Barnett, Gracie Carpenter, Claire Pond, Kathryn Pond, and Caroline Pond; great nephew Boyce Magee; and cousins, Patricia Jarret, Sherry Maynard Schroeder, Terry Smith, Louann Shaver, Melodee Byrd, Bobby Wolfe, Ricky Wolfe, Cindy Lou Elliott, Betty Conway, Don Calcote, and Beverly Meyer.  He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Harry, two very special neighbors and friends, Ruth Spillman and her sister, Beverly Keil, and many many other friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 8th day of June 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Ben Rhone officiating.

In addition to the memorial service a separate Celebration of Life Block Party for Ken’s neighbors, friends, coworkers, and church members will be held at a later date on the 18th day of June, at half-past ten o’clock in the morning at Ken’s house in Houston, Texas.
