Kristy Lou Stasel, age 48, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, the 13th day of August 2022, after a brief illness. Kristy was born in Athens, Texas, on the 12th day of September 1973, to parents James Sherman and Linda Wilson Sherman.
Kristy was a loving and compassionate individual. She was a devoted wife, who loved her husband and always stood by his side. Her family was her number one priority in life. Kristy was a member of Rocky Mound Baptist Church in Elkhart, where she leaves behind many friends.
When Kristy was around there was never a dull moment. She was fearless, had a quick wit, and she was very intelligent. Kristy knew her way around a kitchen and enjoyed sharing all her good recipes. Kristy left us too soon, but the memories that were made will be treasured forever.
She is preceded in death by her father James Sherman; stepfather, Louie Clark; sister, Jennenne Sherman; and her cousin, Stephen Wilson.
Left to cherish Kristy’s memory are her devoted husband, Landon Stasel; mother, Linda Clark; daughters, Lyric Moyers and husband Jacob, and Avian Cox and husband Jonathan; siblings, James “Jimmy” Sherman and wife Koleen, Danny Sherman and wife Cindy, Wanda Kirby and husband Danny, and Lynda Blythe and husband Nik; grandchildren, Avery Jo Frazier, Emma Lynn Frazier, Ember Cox, and Jensen Cox. Kristy is also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and treated as her own children, Kristopher, Clay, Clint, Corey, Carissa, Cherish, Isaac, Hannah, and Elijah, in addition to other cousins, family members, and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Kristy’s life are to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 20th day of August 2022 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wesley Veazey officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Rhone Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Carissa Cavazos, Danny Kirby, Dillian McCuler, Royce Gerald, J.J. Haynes, and Jacob Moyers. Honorary pallbearers include Corey Kirby, Phil Wilson, and Jonathan Cox.
