LaJean Raines, age 91, of Elkhart, Texas affectionately known as Jean, passed away peacefully at her home on September 13, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 17, 1932, in Elkhart, Texas, to parents James Benton and Ninnie Farrel Benton.
Jean had a passion for reading and enjoyed the tranquility that came with immersing herself in a good book. Mrs. Raines was also a skilled craftswoman, finding joy in crocheting and cross-stitching. Her hands were rarely still as she was always creating something beautiful. As a skilled seamstress, she crafted many beautiful garments and quilts, each stitch a testament to her patience and meticulous nature.
Above all, Jean cherished her family. She treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she instilled in them the importance of love, kindness, and compassion. Her legacy lives on through them, and her memory will forever be etched in their hearts.
Jean was a woman of faith, and she found comfort in the knowledge that she would one day be reunited with her loved ones in heaven. She was a member of Denson Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Her passing is a great loss to all who knew and loved her, but her spirit lives on in the love and kindness she spread throughout her life.
Jean joined in Heaven her husband Doyl M. Raines; parents, James and Ninnie Benton; son Earl Raines; and son-in-law, Terry Parker.
Left to cherish wonderful memories are her daughter Debra Parker Wars and her husband Charlie, and son David and his wife Julie. Jean was one of nine children, and she saw the beauty in the chaos of a large family. Her siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. Her grandchildren include Clinton Parker and wife Becky, Tori Bennett and husband Brandon, Adam Parker and wife Angie, Jennifer Raines, Josh Raines, Jacob Raines and wife Tiffany, Michael Raines and wife Tira, and Erin Brown and husband Dale. Mrs. Raines was also blessed with 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
