Larry Wayne Pelham, Jr.

Beloved father, son, brother and uncle, Larry Wayne Pelham, Jr., passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, the 20th day of December 2020, just one month before his 49th birthday.  Larry was born and raised in Grapeland, Texas, to parents Larry W. Pelham, Sr. and Lillie West, on the 20th day of January 1972.

Larry was a graduate of Grapeland High School, Class of 1990, and went on to Sam Houston State University where he earned his degree in Psychology.  Larry married and became the father of four children.  He then went on to work for Crockett State School and TDCJ.  Larry was a collector of guns and graphic novels.  He enjoyed shooting and was an amazing writer.  His favorite book was “The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress”.  

He is preceded in death by his father, Larry W. Pelham, Sr.; paternal grandfather, Atmar Pelham; maternal grandmother, Johnye King Douthit; and his twin sons, John Michael Pelham and Paul Thomas Pelham.

Larry leaves behind his son, Robert Lee Pelham of Dallas; daughter, Laura Lynn Pelham of Dallas; mother, Lillie West Broughton and stepfather, Michael Broughton, both of Grapeland; sister, Lillene Crum and husband William; and nieces and nephews, Kenneth Crouch, Lloyd Crum and Crystal Crouch, all of Colorado.  He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Rachelle Baker, and many friends.

Graveside services to honor the life of Larry Pelham are to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 23rd day of December 2020 at Parker Cemetery with Jackie Lewis officiating.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from nine o’clock until half past ten o’clock in the morning, on Wednesday, at Rhone Funeral Home.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Larry’s memory can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
