Lawrence Edford Robinson, Sr., of Palestine, Texas, left this world for his heavenly home on Monday, the 18th day of May 2026. He reunited with his beloved wife, Barbara, at the age of 78. “Big L” as he was lovingly called was born in Lakeland, Florida on the 10th day of August 1947 to the late Clarence James Robinson and Eva Mae Kelly Robinson.
Known to many as a "gentle giant”, Mr. Robinson, was a devoted family man, proud veteran, and faithful servant of God. Born with a hardworking spirit, he answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Mr. Robinson dedicated his professional life to the trade of welding. His meticulous craftsmanship and strong work ethic led to a long, successful career with Eagle Pipeline, from which he eventually retired.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Robinson’s true passion was his family and his faith. He was a devout Christian who walked closely with the Lord, reading and studying his Bible daily. His faith was reflected in the love and grace he extended to everyone he met.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Robinson loved to fish whenever he had the chance. However, his greatest joy in life was his role as “Grandpa”. He absolutely adored spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His capacity to love was so vast that his warmth extended far beyond his immediate family; he became a beloved grandpa to many children who looked up to him for guidance and affection.
Mr. Robinson is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Eva Robinson; wife, Barbara Robinson; and his sister, Carol Robinson.
He is survived by his loving family including his daughter, Sherry Starling; son, Eddie Robinson and wife Twina; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Funeral services to celebrate Lawrence Robinson’s life are to be conducted at four o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 23rd day of May 2026 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Matt Gregory officiating the service. Interment will follow in Ferguson Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Eddie Robinson, Lester Baxter, Charles Baxter, Darren Farley, Wade Salmon, and Riley Salmon.
