Linda Jean Whiteley, beloved wife of Robert B. Whiteley, succumbed to the coronavirus on September 9, 2021. Born in Mount Pleasant, TX on July 3, 1947, Linda lived in many areas of Texas and other states but returned to her roots in East Texas where she lived happily with Bob in Palestine. Both Linda and Bob were graduates of Sam Houston State University, where they were college sweethearts who pursued other lives after graduation but found each other again over forty years later and wed. Linda was a woman of many talents ranging from gifted artist to accomplished poker player. Linda was one of the first female police officers in Dallas, Texas, and continued her career with the Texas Department of Corrections until retirement. She is survived by her husband Robert and stepdaughter Andrea Middleton.
A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 21st of October, at the Vietnam Veterans of America Dogwood Chapter #991, 927 Gardner Drive in Palestine, where Richard R. Dahlgren will officiate.
Donations in Linda’s memory may be made to BARC, the Humane Society in Palestine.
