Lora Pirtle Obituary

 

Lora Evelyn Pirtle, age 87, of Palestine, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021, at TruCare Living Centers in Palestine.  Mrs. Pirtle was born on the 5th day of July 1933, in Houston, Texas, to parents J.D. Farris and Lamora Lively Farris.                                   

Mrs. Pirtle was a lovely Christian lady who loved her children and grandchildren dearly.  She was an excellent cook and big supporter of her children and grandchildren’s activities.  She volunteered much of her time at school events and as a Palestine Band Booster.  Mrs. Pirtle enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains and singing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Lamora Farris; husbands, Herbert B. Sheffield, Robert Lee Hill and James “J.R.” Riley Pirtle; daughters, Gerri Marshall and Ginger Sweetman; and one brother, Douglas Farris.

Mrs. Pirtle is survived by her daughter, Kim Sims and husband Gary of Palestine; son, Thomas Hill of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pirtle will be cremated, and the family will host a memorial service at a later date.  Her ashes will be interred at Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Cremation services for Lora Evelyn Pirtle are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
