Lula Wilson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lula Mae Wilson, of Elkhart, Texas.  Mrs. Wilson passed away peacefully on the 3rd day of August 2024, in Elkhart, Texas, at the age of 87. Born to parents Marshall A. Anderson and Collie Riley on the 5th day of February 1937, in McGregor, Texas, Mrs. Wilson was a source of love and kindness to all who knew her.

Mrs. Wilson was renowned for her unwavering work ethic throughout her life. She dedicated many years to food service at the Old Memorial Hospital and for the Elkhart Independent School District. Her commitment to her vocation was further demonstrated when she earned her Dietician's License in 1974, all while maintaining her full-time employment. Her colleagues and those she served will fondly remember her for her nurturing spirit and the care she put into her work.

A devoted Christian, Mrs. Wilson began each day with scripture, her faith deeply rooted in the teachings of the Bible. She was an active and cherished member of the First Congregational Methodist Church of Elkhart, where her presence was a source of comfort and inspiration to the congregation.

Her love for the outdoors was evident to anyone who had the pleasure of visiting her home. Mrs. Wilson found joy in tending to her yard and nurturing her garden, with roses holding a special place in her heart. The beauty she cultivated in her garden was a reflection of the love and care she extended to her family and friends.

Family was the cornerstone of Mrs. Wilson's life. She was a loving matriarch who cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her kindness and selflessness were the threads that wove her family together, and her legacy of love will continue to guide them.

Mrs. Wilson was a woman of grace and virtue, touching the lives of many with her loving and kind nature. She was a figure of selfless devotion, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of her compassion and warmth will endure.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Wilson; daughter-in-law, Sherry Ann Wilson; sisters, Lillian Beaird, Ann Callaway; and her brothers, Jake Anderson, Albert Anderson, Marshall Anderson, Jr., Bobby Anderson, Roy Anderson, Marvin Anderson, Robert Anderson, and Billy Joe Anderson.

Lula Mae Wilson’s spirit, a gentle and nurturing force, will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways she enriched our lives.  She leaves behind her daughter, Pam Spivey, of Elkhart, Texas; son, David Ray Wilson, of Elkhart, Texas; sisters, Mary Irwin and husband Lawrence, of Elkhart, Texas, Barbara Pilkington, of Grapeland, Texas; and her brother Tilman Anderson, of Crockett, Texas.  Mrs. Wilson will also be dearly missed by her grandson, Ryan Linderman and wife April, and their children, Addison Grace Linderman and Rachel Elizabeth Linderman; her grandson, George Ethan Boone; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
