Margaret Jones Steidle, age 92, of Crockett, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, the 6th day of October 2023. She passed away peacefully at home with her devoted husband by her side. She was born on the 27th day of August 1931 to parents Harry Jones and Ethel Derby Jones.
Born in St. Albans, Vermont, and raised in Enosburg Falls, Vermont, Margaret pursued her love for design and textiles at the University of Vermont, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Clothing and Textiles. Her passion for creativity did not stop there. She furthered her studies at Sam Houston State University, where she obtained another degree, a Bachelor of Fine Art in Art. These experiences laid the foundation for her lifelong love of art and design, which she channeled into her work as a homemaker and her involvement in various community organizations.
Margaret was an active member of the Crockett Art League, where she shared her artistic talents and fostered a sense of community among fellow artists. Her creativity also shone through in her work with the Davy Crockett Quilt Guild. Here, she combined her love for textiles with her artistic flair, creating beautiful quilts that were not only functional but also works of art. Her creations were a testament to her attention to detail, her eye for color, and her ability to transform simple materials into something extraordinary.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Margaret’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength, guidance, and a sense of purpose. She served the Lord with dedication and love, embodying the values of compassion, generosity, and humility in all her interactions.
Those who knew Margaret will remember her as a woman of great intelligence, creativity, and love. She had a way of making everyone feel special, whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or one of her handmade quilts. Her spirit, her creativity, and her love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Margaret joins in Heaven her parents Harry and Ethel Jones and her sister, Barbara Kittell.
Margaret’s legacy will continue to inspire and guide, reminding us of the beauty that can be created when we weave together our talents, passions, and love for others.
