Marilyn Sue Stevens, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left this world for her heavenly home on Friday, the 3rd day of May 2024. Marilyn was 87 years of age when the Lord called her home. Born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, on the 1st day of July 1936, to parents Emmett J. Bryson and Ina M. Hutton, Marilyn was a cherished homemaker and mom, whose presence was a fire of kindness and care in the lives of those she touched.
Marilyn's life was a testament to her loving nature, her thoughtfulness, and her friendly demeanor. She was a woman of faith who loved Jesus with all her heart, and her spirit reflected the grace and compassion she found in her beliefs. Marilyn's hands were rarely still, as she was excellent at sewing, creating beautiful pieces that became treasured gifts and keepsakes.
An avid reader, Marilyn found joy and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. Until her health declined, her social life was vibrant and full of laughter; she had the rare ability to light up a room simply by being in it. Marilyn's sassy nature, always expressed in the most endearing way, brought smiles and a spark of fun to every gathering. Marilyn's love for her feline companions was well known, as she provided a loving home to many cats throughout her life. Her kindness extended to all creatures, great and small.
To say that everyone loved Marilyn would be an understatement. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of her love, warmth, and sassy charm will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know her. Marilyn Sue Stevens will be dearly missed, yet her legacy of love and friendship will endure forever. She leaves behind her daughters, Missy Walker and husband Greg, of Palestine, Texas, Mary Roberts and husband Don, of Montalba, Texas; sons, Ray Eggleston, of Missouri, Timmy Eggleston and wife Cindy, of Missouri, Dayton Stevens and wife Angela, of Arlington, Texas, and Barry Stevens and wife Lisa, of Maydelle, Texas. “Grandma”, as she was affectionately known by her thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren will miss her dearly, along with many other family members and friends.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Ina Bryson; husband, Jackie E. Stevens; and her sons, Curtis Eggleston, Randy Eggleston, and Darryl Stevens.
Graveside services to honor the life of Marilyn Sue Stevens are to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 10th day of May 2024 at Roselawn Park with Bro. Jack White officiating the service.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Marilyn’s grandchildren.
