Martha Carlisle Obituary

Martha Rebecca (Lowery) Carlisle, age 90, of Palestine, with her son by her side, was peacefully carried to her heavenly home by Jesus, the 17th day of June 2020, at Home Place Hospice in Tyler, Texas.  She was born on the 18th day of August 1929, in Stone County, Mississippi to Will and Florence Alexander. She was a faithful member of Westwood Baptist Church and a dedicated prayer warrior for all her family and friends.  She had lived in Palestine the last 43 years.  Martha was a fantastic mother who deeply loved her family.  She enjoyed traveling, always ready to go on a minute’s notice, especially if the trip involved visiting with relatives and friends.  Two of her favorite places were her home of Wiggins, Mississippi and Broken Bow, Oklahoma where she enjoyed trout fishing in the Lower Fork River.

Martha is preceded in death by her parents Will and Florence Alexander; husband, John Carlisle; sons, Gene Lowery and John Carlisle Jr. (Scooter); and daughter Beverly Mae Carlisle (Bee).

She is survived by her loving son, Glen Lowery and wife Elaine; grandchildren, Melayne Lesh and husband Stephen, Matthew Lowery and wife Alexis, and Tonna Lowery; four great-grandchildren, Tristan, Alexander, Everett, and Ian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Due to the current concerns surrounding the Covid-19 situation, family and friends will celebrate Martha’s life at a graveside service on Saturday, the 20th day of June at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart with Bro. Charles Bratz officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Stephen Sheffield, Kelly, Jerry, and all the staff at Brookdale for all the care and attention given to their mom.  In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that you make a donation in memory of Martha Carlisle to Westwood Baptist Church,  1809 Bassett Rd, Palestine, Texas 75803, or to the charity of your choice.
