Mary Bolt Obituary

Mary Kale Bolt passed away peacefully on Friday, the 14th day of February 2025, at the age of 83. Born on the 8th day of September 1941, in Palestine, Texas, to Jeff Kale and Mamie Kale, Mary's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her dedication to serving others.

A dedicated educator, Mary attended Stephen F. Austin University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. Her career spanned several years in the field, making a significant impact on students’ lives as she taught at Cayuga Independent School District, Westwood Independent School District, and ultimately retired from Athens Independent School District. Mary’s commitment to education was rooted in her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow.

Mary was not only devoted to her work but also deeply engaged in her community. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church, where her faith flourished, and her spirit inspired many. Her legacy of service extended beyond the church walls; she participated in the prison ministry and Meals on Wheels, always seeking to uplift those around her. A passionate baker, Mary was well-known for her famous chocolate pies, which brought joy to countless gatherings and celebrations. She also had a special affinity for collecting red hearts, symbolizing her loving nature and the warmth she spread to everyone she encountered.

Mary, whose larger-than-life personality never failed to make an impression, was the epitome of someone who was truly the life of the party.

Mary's love for her family was immense, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She is survived by her loving daughters, Natalie Swanson and her husband David, and Jennifer Sorrells and her husband Jason; her son, Roger Holmes, Jr.; and her sister, Freda Gallatin. Her memory will be cherished by her adoring grandchildren, Reece Swanson, Claire Swanson, Bradley Holmes, Hannah Holmes, Caroline Holmes, and Jackson Sorrells. Mary's spirit will also live on through the numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know her.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Jeff and Mamie Kale; her sister, Bettye Kale; and her brother, Bud Kale. They have now welcomed her into eternal rest with open arms.

Mary Kale Bolt will forever be remembered for her unwavering spirit, generosity, and the profound impact she had on the lives of all who knew her. Her loving heart, larger than life personality, life of the party, and faithful soul have left an indelible mark on the world, and while she may have departed from this life, her legacy of love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones.
