Mary Coker Obituary

Mary Coker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, kindness, and devotion to family. Family was the center of Mary’s life. She poured her heart into caring for those she loved and took great joy in family gatherings, shared traditions and everyday moments.  Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she so freely gave.

A graveside service was held for Mary Coker at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands, Texas, on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Mary was born on August 13, and passed away on February 15, 2026, in Frisco, Texas.  Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Meme and to her nieces and nephews as Aunt Glyn.  Mary enjoyed sewing, traveling with her kids, singing, playing forty-two and eighty-eight dominoes, and watching western TV shows and movies. Mary did not necessarily like to cook, but she made the best Banana Pudding in the world, according to her grandkids and great-grandkids. Additionally, Mary had a keen sense of humor and was quite witty.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Delbert Eugene Coker (Gene), her parents, Mary Francis (Fannie), and Ulysses Davis Cornelius. She was the youngest of four children who also preceded her in death:  Auline Whitaker, Beveline Mason, and Bill Cornelius.

Mary is survived by her loving family, who will cherish her memory and carry forward the values she instilled.  Mary is survived by her daughters, Tina Coker of League City, Texas, Terri and son-in-law Lynn Dupree of Frisco, Texas and son Larry and daughter-in-law Jana Coker of Palestine, Texas. She has five grandchildren, Dr. Kristalynne Godwin of League City, Texas, James Godwin of Searcy, Arkansas, Sky Dupree of Louisville, Kentucky, Sunni Dupree of Las Colinas, Texas, Serena Coker of Walnut Creek, California and many more relatives and friends.

Mary was a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church in Palestine, Texas and most recently attended Cross Ridge Church in Little Elm, Texas.  Pallbearers were James Godwin, Sky Dupree, Benjamin Gray, Nick Gray, Roy Whitaker and Kaelan Jones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc which is a non-profit organization.
