Mary “Dell” Adams, of Palestine, Texas passed away peacefully on the 5th day of April 2024, at the age of 93. She was born in Oakwood, Texas on the 26th day of May 1930 to parents James Austin Smith and Mary Ethel Davis. Mrs. Adams's life was a tapestry of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Mrs. Adams grew up in the heart of Texas, where she developed a passion for the simple pleasures of life. In her younger years, she was often found with a needle in hand, sewing and quilting with a skill and patience that was admired by all who knew her. Her love for the culinary arts was equally profound, as she delighted in preparing meals that would bring her family together around the dinner table.

As the years unfolded, Mrs. Adams’s interests blossomed further. She became an avid reader, with a particular fondness for the escape that books provided. Her sharp mind was frequently engaged in solving word search puzzles, a pastime that kept her wit as keen as ever. Mrs. Adams also cherished the times spent playing dominoes and chicken foot with friends and family, where her competitive spirit and joyous laughter were contagious. Her love for old western movies, particularly "Gunsmoke," allowed her to travel back in time, a period that captured her imagination and sense of adventure.

Above all, Mrs. Adams was a devout Christian, whose faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her relationship with God guided her through life's trials and triumphs, and she was a testament to the power of faith in action. Mrs. Adams's independence and family-oriented nature were her defining characteristics, shaping her into the matriarch that her family revered.

She is preceded by her parents James and Mary Smith, husband James Forrest Adams, eleven siblings, and one grandchild.

Mrs. Adams leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Linda Dell Moreland; son, Rodney Adams; sister, Rebecca Boyd all of Palestine, Texas; her seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren, with another blessed addition on the way.
