Michael Vaughan Broughton

Michael Vaughan Broughton, age 80, of Grapeland, Texas went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, the 25th day of September 2024 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 12th day of August 1944, to parents Melvis Broughton and Maggie Hatfield. Mike was a man whose life was characterized by his love for his family, his kindness, and his friendly nature.

A man of simple pleasures, Mike found contentment in the quiet moments of life. His favorite pastime was watching RFD TV, where he connected with the rural and agricultural communities that mirrored his own values and lifestyle. A generous man by nature, Mike’s kindness extended beyond the confines of his home. His open heart and friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure in his community.

Above all, Mike was a family man. His love for his wife was a testament to his character, and his devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his existence. Mike’s presence was a source of comfort and security, and his guidance was sought and cherished by all who knew him. His ability to love unconditionally and to offer support without reservation made him a pillar in the lives of many.

He joins his parents, his stepdad who raised him, Alvin Thomas; sister, Karen Honeycutt; and brother, Bobby Thomas in Heaven.   

Mike is survived by his cherished wife of many years, Lille Broughton, who was the cornerstone of his life and happiness. His legacy continues through his daughters, Lilliene Crum and her husband William, Stephanie Ganske and her husband DeWayne, Cathy Broughton, and Amanda Rollins. Mike raised his grandsons, Michael Hatton (Kimberly), and Aaron Hatton (Janna). He leaves behind, ten grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life, as well, a brother, Gary Thomas (Kathy).

Mike’s family will celebrate his life at a later date.

Cremation services for Michael Vaughan Broughton are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
