On Thursday, the 2nd day of November 2023, Michael W. Dunlap, of Houston, Texas, passed from this life to live at his eternal residence in Heaven. A respected Navy Veteran and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Dunlap passed away peacefully at the age of 80. He was born on the 28th day of September 1943, in Waco, Texas, to parents Francis Marion Dunlap and Thelma Wallace Dunlap.
In his professional life, Mr. Dunlap was a machinist for three decades, demonstrating a work ethic that was unmatched. As a Navy veteran, he served his nation with honor and pride, bringing the same discipline and commitment he learned in the military to his work.
Mr. Dunlap was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping. His hands were always busy, he was a master of the grill, and he also had a penchant for woodworking. Mr. Dunlap had a deep appreciation for old country and western music, and movies.
Mr. Dunlap was the epitome of selflessness, always putting others before himself. His loving nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Dunlap; his three daughters, Robin Dunlap and wife Cathy Mustachio, Lynn Kennedy, and Kim Kennedy; sisters, Betty Boyd, and Brenda Hamilton; brother, Bernard Dunlap; and his beloved grandchildren, Christy Rodbro, Becky Boles, Tyler Craun, and Mikella Chance. Also left to cherish many wonderful memories are his ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
In Heaven, Mr. Dunlap joins his parents, Francis and Thelma Dunlap, and his son, John Dunlap.
Mr. Dunlap will be cremated, and a celebration of life is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 2nd of December 2023, at Strongs Memorial Park- Pavilion (Strong Cemetery) in Elkhart, Texas. Military Funeral Honors in honor of Mr. Dunlap's service to our country will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard Team and the East Texas Patriot Guard Riders.
