It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of Michael Quanah Parker, age 55, of Elkhart, Texas, who passed away on Saturday, the 10th day of January 2026. Michael was born on the 13th day of March 1970, in Harris County, Texas to his late parents James Robbins Parker and Bonnie Elaine Crisp.
Michael was a graduate of Elkhart High School and enlisted in the United States Army upon graduation. He served during Desert Storm and later returned home to further his education at Trinity Valley Community College, where he earned his associate's degree. Michael worked for the Texas Department of Transportation, where he retired as a valued member of the road crew.
Michael had many interests throughout his life including building military models, with a particular fondness for helicopters. His creations were more than a hobby; they were a reflection for the machines that played such a significant role in his military career. Michael also dedicated countless hours to researching the Vietnam War and his enthusiasm for the Star Wars saga was well-known among his friends and family. Additionally, Michael enjoyed visiting military museums and air shows whenever his schedule allowed.
Above all, Michael adored his relatives and embraced every opportunity to make them feel loved and cared for. His love extended to the kitchen, where he expressed his affection through his cooking. Michael relished the chance to feed everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of tasting his dishes. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his influence and the memories he created will endure forever.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rhonda Mathis, and his grandchild, Kaizen Skye Parker.
He leaves behind his loving wife Tonya Parker; sons, Stacey Parker of Tyler, Texas, and Colton Parker of College Station, Texas; sisters, Lisa Parker of Sargent, Texas, and Terri Parker of Cleburne, Texas; and his brother, James Parker of Longview, Texas. Michael will also be sorely missed by his extended family and many friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the evening, on Saturday, the 17th day of January 2026 at Rhone Funeral Home.
A graveside service to celebrate Michael’s life will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 14th day of March 2026 at Pilgrim Cemetery.
