Mikel Foster Obituary

Mikel Delvin Foster, of Hallsville, Texas, and previously of Palestine, Texas, went home to his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, the 31st day of July 2021.  He passed away at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview at the age of 74.  Mr. Foster was born on the 6th day of February 1947 in Jacksonville, Texas to parents Delvin Foster and Helon Montgomery Foster.

Mr. Foster lived a life of service and honor to the Lord, his family and friends, and our country.  He served in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He retired from law enforcement as Chief of Police after a long career and later retired from T.D.C.J.  Mr. Foster was an avid reader of western books.  He enjoyed raising horses, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and gardening.  Mr. Foster was very talented when it came to working with his hands and took pride in his carpentry.     

He joins in Heaven his parents Delvin and Helon Foster, brother Mark Foster, sister Dilene Kennedy, and brother-in-law Charles Kennedy.

Mr. Foster will always live in the hearts of his wife Susan Foster; daughters, Shareé Milliorn and husband Matt of Ft. Worth, Texas, Moriah Mathis Williams and husband Gabriel of Keithville, Louisiana; sons, Ronnie Foster and wife Monica of Palestine, Texas, Mikel Keith Foster and wife Olga of Aurora, Colorado, and Brandon Mathis and wife Felicia of Marshall, Texas; sisters, Charlotte Diamont and husband Frank of Jacksonville, Texas, Stormy Parr and husband Steven of Devers, Texas; brothers, David Foster and wife Lynda of Jacksonville, Texas, and Roger Foster and wife Marianne of Nacogdoches, Texas.  He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning, on Saturday, the 7th day of August 2021 at Afton Grove-Vinson Cemetery in Jacksonville, Texas, where Ronnie Foster is to officiate.  The rendering of Military Honors to show our gratitude for Mr. Foster's honorable service will follow the service and is to be rendered by The United States Army Honor Guard Team and East Texas Patriot Riders.  

Funeral services for Mikel Delvin Foster are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
