Mildred H. (Harper) Holt

Mildred H. Holt, age 88, of Neches, Texas, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, the 27th day of August 2022.  Mrs. Holt was born in New Waverly, Texas, on the 10th day of July 1934 to parents R. E. “Lonnie” Harper and Hortense Harper.

Mrs. Holt had a heart of gold.  She was a genuine and affectionate, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She based her entire life around her Lord and family.  Every time the church doors were open, you could find Mrs. Holt inside.  She helped with various church ministries including teaching Vacation Bible School, and Sunday School Classes at Neches First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Holt was married to her husband, Jack Holt, for 63 years before he passed away.  They built a beautiful life together full of happy times and fond memories.  Mrs. Holt raised not only her own children, but several children in the community as well.  She was an excellent cook and baker who treasured her recipes, and would not share them, even when asked.  Mrs. Holt enjoyed playing dominoes and working in her garden.  She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed until the day we are all reunited in Heaven.    

Mrs. Holt is preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Hortense Harper; husband, Jack Holt; daughter, Evonne Holt; sons, Richard Holt, and Tommy Holt; sisters, Juanita Carter and Catherine Allison; brothers, Henry Harper, Malcom Harper, and Robert Eugene Harper; and her grandchildren, Ricky Holt, Jacob Holt, Shawna Holt, and Timothy Holt.

Mrs. Holt is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Sherry Lynn Holt; sons, Ricky Holt and wife Ann, Tim Holt, Tony Holt, and Teddy “T.J.” Holt and wife Patricia; sisters, Jenean Stawn, Vida Teel, Maydel Sims; and brother, Gary Harper.  She also leaves behind her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Mildred Holt are to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Saturday, the 3rd day of September 2022 at Neches First Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Ott and Pastor Charles Turner officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Neches Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service at Neches First Baptist Church.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Marlin Gabbard, Lance Gabbard, Chance Gabbard, Johnnie Flores, Michael Honea, Stephen Sims, Dew Sheifield, and Joseph Meador. Honorary pallbearers include Van Brown, Jr. Flores, and James Grayson.
