Moody Franklin

Moody Franklin, age 79, of Palestine, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, the 24th day of January 2021, at Palestine Regional Medical Center.  He was born on the 14th day of September 1941, in Jacksonville, Texas, to parents Kelly Franklin and Louise Matthews Franklin.

Mr. Franklin lived life to the fullest and served our great country in the U.S. Air Force.  He was a member of the V.F.W. “on the hill” and always enjoyed having a good time, shooting pool, and singing karaoke with his friends.  Mr. Franklin was a very caring individual who would help anyone in need.  He had a close relationship with the Lord and enjoyed his quiet time and long “talks” with his Savior.     

He is preceded in death by his parents Kelly and Louise Franklin.

Mr. Franklin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years Debbie Franklin; daughter, Padge Moore and husband Barry of Jacksonville, Texas; sons, Kip Franklin and wife Tera of Troup, Texas, Chance Franklin of Odessa, Texas, Jeffrey Lyons of Athens, Texas; brothers, Steve Franklin, Eric Franklin, Matthew Wallace, Mark Wallace, and David Wallace.  Mr. Franklin also leaves behind his grandchildren, Christopher Franklin, Nathaniel Franklin, James Burns, Adam Franklin, Justin Franklin, Sonnie Moore, Kenzie Kinard, Taylor Lyons and Jayce Lyons; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 27th day of January 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate Mr. Franklin’s life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, on Thursday, the 28th day of January 2021, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Malcolm Harrison officiating.  Interment will follow and Mr. Franklin will be laid to rest in Roselawn Park. 

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Christopher Franklin, Nathaniel Franklin, James Burns, Roy Stampley, Dustin Shirey, and Steve Franklin.
