Nancy Wells (Jones) Mitchell

Nancy Wells Mitchell, age 69, of Palestine, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, the 2nd day of January 2021.  She was born on the 2nd day of July 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents Lee Jones and Bernice Ruhl Jones.

Mrs. Mitchell worked in retail at Wal-Mart and had a very outspoken personality.  The love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren, was evident and she always enjoyed celebrating their milestones.  She was an animal lover at heart and enjoyed spoiling her cats, maybe even a little too much.  Mrs. Mitchell’s hobbies included golf and bowling. She will be missed and forever remembered.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Bernice Jones and husband, Jerry Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughters Doni McClelland and husband Thomas of Palestine, Kori Wells of Montalba; son, James Wells and wife Mickie of Palestine; stepdaughter, Leah Clark of Arkansas; stepson, Jay Mitchell of Palestine; grandchildren, Cason Wells, Avery Wells, Mersadie Franklin, Shannen McClelland, Conner Clark and Lauren Clark.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Wednesday, the 6th day of January 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Mitchell’s life is to be conducted at half past two o’clock in the afternoon, on Thursday the 7th day of January 2021, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. John Marcum officiating.  Interment will follow in Guiceland Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas.
