Nelda Chandler (Herbrough) Robertson

Nelda Chandler Robertson, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, the 14th day of May 2024.  Mrs. Robertson passed away at the age of 89, at home in the presence of her loving family.  She was born on the 9th day of February 1935 in Anderson County, Texas to parents Bobbie Herbrough and Theo Robinson. Nelda was a cherished member of her community and a lifelong resident whose kindness and thoughtful nature touched the lives of many.

Nelda's creative spirit was evident in her love for decorating, especially during the holidays, which she transformed into seasons of wonder and delight for her family. She treasured the time spent with her loved ones, particularly during the holidays, when her home became the epicenter of laughter, love, and the sharing of stories. Her home was a reflection of her heart, warm and welcoming, a place where memories were made and cherished.

An avid reader, Nelda found great pleasure in the quiet moments spent with her books, which were her companions in her thirst for knowledge and her love for stories. Fishing was another of her passions, a pastime that allowed her to enjoy the serenity of nature and the simple joys of life.

Nelda’s love for cats was another facet of her caring personality. She had a special way with her feline friends, and her tender care for them was yet another testament to her boundless capacity for love. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her devoted husband, HL Chandler, Jr., and her brother, Leon Herbrough.

Nelda’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughters, Donna Dean, and Channa Cobble, both of Palestine, Texas; her son, Kerry Chandler, and his wife Tavana, of Northport, Alabama; several grandchildren, and countless friends and community members whose lives she enriched.

Funeral services are to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning, on Monday, the 20th day of May 2024 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Kenneth Weston officiating the service.  Interment will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning one hour prior to the start of the service.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jacob Cobble, Robert Maines, Sam McLellan, Robert Burris, Gary Christian, and Mark Cobble.
