Norma Bennett Murray, age 84, of Flint, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, the 17th day of October 2020. She was born on the 13th day of January 1936, in Elkhart, Texas, to parents Eldridge Bennett and Callie Corene Chapman Bennett.
Mrs. Murray married her high school sweetheart, George, at First United Methodist Church in Elkhart, on May 29, 1954, not long after graduating from high school. She later was blessed with three children and took great pride in raising her family. Mrs. Murray was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Spending time with her family brought her great joy and she was a talented artist who found immense pleasure in painting.
She is preceded in death by her parents Eldridge and Callie Bennett and brothers, Clyde Gary Bennett and Larry Bennett.
Mrs. Murray leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, George Waller Murray; daughter, Thala Barrentine of Lindale; sons, Gary Murray and wife JaLynne, Doug Murray and wife Gina, all of Tyler; sister, Glenda Brimberry of Denton; brother, William Robert Bennett of Gunter; 7 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Murray’s life will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 21st day of October 2020 at Pilgrim Cemetery in Elkhart. Mrs. Murray’s son Gary Murray will officiate the service.
