Norma Louise Sturkie, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with our loving Lord and Savior on Friday, the 17th day of December 2021. Mrs. Sturkie passed away at Palestine Regional Medical Center at the age of 96. She was born in Palestine, Texas, on the 11th day of January 1925, to parents James Selwyn Willingham and Mary Zula Kelley Willingham.
Mrs. Sturkie was a loving Christian lady who raised her family with pride and grace. She took very good care of her children and all her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her chicken spaghetti. Christmas time was a special time of year for Mrs. Sturkie and she relished in making Christmas Candy for others to enjoy. Throughout Mrs. Sturkie’s life, she was very disciplined when it came to maintaining her health, and she always made time to exercise. Mrs. Sturkie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palestine and taught Sunday School for over forty years. She lived a long and fulfilling life and will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.
She joins in Heaven her first husband, James Henry Angell, Jr.; second husband, Dr. Howard Sturkie; parents, James and Mary Willingham; daughter, Linda Angell Bolton; and sister, Helen McDaniel.
Mrs. Sturkie is survived by her daughters Sandra Kay Sturkie Turner and husband Marion of Kilgore, Texas, Tammy Sturkie Thompson and husband Russell of Sherman, Texas; sons, Rick Sturkie and wife Janice of Hempstead, Texas, Gary Angell and wife Martha of Bryan, Texas, Steve Angell and wife Cheryl of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
Cremation and graveside services for Norma Louise Sturkie are in care of Rhone Funeral Home, 3900 S. State Highway 19, Palestine, Texas.
