Peggy Lynn Zeiters Pope, age 70, of Elkhart, Texas, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 25, 2023, in Palestine, Texas. She was born on June 21, 1953, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Peggy was known for her kind, thoughtful, and faith-filled spirit.
Peggy served her country proudly in the United States Army. Throughout her life, Peggy devoted herself to caring for others. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), she provided comfort and support to countless patients and their families. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her profession, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Peggy was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where her faith and love for the Lord shone brightly. She found joy in attending services, participating in church activities, and sharing her faith with others. With a passion for discovering hidden treasures, Peggy loved exploring garage sales and flea markets.
Known for her ability to make friends wherever she went, Peggy never met a stranger. Her warm smile and kind heart made everyone feel welcome and loved. A true animal lover, Peggy had a special place in her heart for all creatures great and small. For many years, she raised parrots, delighting in their beauty and intelligence. Her unwavering faith, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
Peggy joins in Heaven her parents Chester and Ruth Tolbert; first husband, William Dareson Zeiters III; sister, Cindy Jo Einertson; and brother, Rick Fredrickson.
Peggy will live forever in the hearts of her loving husband Jim Pope; son, Lewis Zeiters and wife Leah of Palestine, Texas; stepchildren, Gina Wallace and husband Travis of Crockett, Texas, Michelle Rogers and husband Jamesison of Palestine, Texas, Eric Pope of Elkhart, Texas, and Shawn Pope of Palestine, Texas; sisters, Tammy Bivins, Vicki Fredrickson, and Wendy Keyes. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Peggy Zeiters Pope will be hosted by her family at 1:00PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Lakeside Baptist Church in Slocum with Bro. Steve McCann officiating.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service on Saturday at the church.
