Robert "Bob" Earl Hollingsworth

Robert “Bob” Hollingsworth, age 66, of Palestine, Texas, departed this life suddenly on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.  He was born on the 14th day of October, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to parents, Earl James Hollingsworth and Joy Due Hollingsworth.  

Bob was a United States Navy Veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and First Good Conduct Award.  Bob worked for Shell Oil Company as a welder when he returned home from the war. 

He had a great sense of humor and was always smiling and trying to cheer someone up.  He was a big story teller, coffee and animal lover.  Bob was a family man who loved spending quality time with his family.   He cherished and loved his grandchildren dearly.  On vacations, he took great pleasure in walking the beach and searching for shells with his soul mate, Kathy.  He enjoyed wade fishing, gambling, eating out and going to the movies.      

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Joy Hollingsworth.

Bob is survived by his soul mate and best friend of 25 years, Kathy Cameron Hollingsworth; son, Matthew Hollingsworth and wife Autumn; stepson, Clinton Turner; stepdaughters, Kasi Turner and Felisha Turner; grandchildren, Arlo Hollingsworth, Madeline Ballew, Korbin Ballew, Emma Turner, and Avery Turner.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from seven o’clock until nine o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 30th day of April, 2019, in the Reflection Room and Parlor of Rhone Funeral Home.    

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bob is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 1st day of May, 2019, in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wayne Frazier officiating.  Interment with Military Honors, will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Kalvin Dunn, Matthew Hollingsworth, Clint Turner and Bill Cameron.
