Rodney Michael Coy, age 62, of Palestine, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, the 18th day of November 2021. Mr. Coy was born on the 27th day of October 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Ernest Coy and Mari Aktines Donberger.
Mr. Coy loved life and lived his life everyday to reflect that passion. He had an incredible and genuine personality that was truly magnetic. He valued everyone’s life and wanted every person to know just how special and important they were. He enjoyed a good conversation and was one that never met a stranger. Mr. Coy’s devotion for his children was never ending.
Mr. Coy was a United States Air Force, Navy, and Army Veteran. He served in various aspects during the Iraq War. He also worked as a landman upon returning home from the service. Mr. Coy had a love for fast cars and traveling. He saw various parts of the world during his time in the service and after. Mr. Coy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and lived for the day that he would join the Lord in Heaven.
Mr. Coy is preceded in death by his parents Ernest Coy and Mari Donberger, and his sister, Michelle Moore.
Left to cherish the memories of Mr. Coy are his devoted wife of 38 years Barbara Coy; daughter, Kaitlin Coy; son, Dylan Coy and wife Grace; stepmother, Claudia Coy; sisters, Chanel Boston and husband Clint Mainz, Phyllis Lee, and Nadine Ashley; brothers, Derek Coy, Donnie Yarbrough, and Joseph Yarbrough, and an honorary grandson, Sebastian Rantala. Mr. Coy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 21st day of November 2021 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at half past six o’clock, led by Father Cristian Zelaya, followed by fellowship.
The Mass of Christian burial is to be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 22nd day of November 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Cristian Zelaya officiating. The Rite of Committal, via an escorted procession, will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Palestine.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Will Boston, Bradley Boston, Chip Thompson, Daniel Dockweiler, Chris Nordmeyer, and Waylon Moore.
