Ronald Lawrence Peters, age 78, of Palestine, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, the 7th day of March 2025. “Ron”, as he was best known, was born on the 3rd day of July 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. Born to the late Thomas George Peters and Shirley Koch Peters, Ron grew up in a loving home. He is survived by his brothers: Tom Peters and wife Judy of Grapeland, Texas; Kenneth Peters and wife Cindy of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and David Peters and wife Tina of Orlando, Florida. Together, they remember him as a loving brother who always had a kind word and a supportive shoulder to lean on.
Ron was a proud graduate of Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics. His education laid the foundation for a successful career, culminating in his role at A.D.P., a payroll service company, where he proudly served as the chair of the IT department until his retirement.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ron was a dedicated member of his community in North Texas. For many years, he was a devoted supporter and worker for the Food Pantry in Allen, Texas, demonstrating his commitment to helping those in need. His passion and willingness to lend a hand inspired others and made a difference in the lives of many.
As an Army veteran who served as a Captain in the Vietnam War, Ron earned numerous service medals, including the Bronze Star, Army Accommodation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal, all reflecting his bravery and dedication to his country. His military service shaped him into the intelligent and caring man that he was, instilling in him values of discipline and service.
Before his health declined, Ron was an avid golfer and swimmer, finding joy in the outdoors and in the company of his friends. He also cherished the simple pleasure of walking his beloved dog, enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of nature.
Ron will be cremated and an inurnment service with military honors will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date, where family and friends are invited to pay their respects for this remarkable man.
