Ronny Bridges Obituary

Ronny Charles Bridges, age 75, of Elkhart, Texas, a cherished pillar of the Elkhart community, passed away peacefully on Thursday the 13th day of June 2024, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas with his devoted family by his side. Born on the 22nd day of September 1948, in Palestine, Texas, to proud parents Charles Peter Bridges and Billie Joyce Bridges, Ronny's life was a testament to the values of kindness, passion, hard work, and generosity that he embodied.

Ronny's journey began in a loving home where he learned the importance of family and hard work. His father, Mr. Charles Bridges, whom he has now joined in Heaven, instilled in him a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. His mother, Mrs. Billie Joyce Bridges, survives him and continues to be a beacon of strength and love for the family.

Patriotism and dedication to his country were evident early on in Ronny’s life when he served proudly in the United States Air Force. His commitment to service continued long after his military tenure when he embarked on a fulfilling career with Union Pacific Railroad. Ronny's diligent work ethic and amiable nature earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues until his well-deserved retirement.

Those who knew Ronny understood his profound love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with them and often shared stories of their adventures together. Ronny's passion for the great outdoors was unmistakable. Whether he was tending to his cows, spoiling his dogs, or simply enjoying the serene beauty of nature, Ronny was happiest surrounded by the open skies and the green fields of the farm.

Ronny was known for his genuine support of all Elkhart sports and events. He dedicated countless hours to supporting all sports and events, believing in the power of community to uplift and inspire. His presence at any gathering was cherished, as he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren and encourage his neighbors.

He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, and his loyalty to his favorite sports teams was as steadfast as his commitment to his loved ones. His great sense of humor and love for telling jokes brought smiles and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ronny's kindness, loving nature, and selfless acts of service defined his character and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him.

For 53 years, Ronny shared an unwavering bond of love and companionship with his wife, Karen Bridges. Together, they created a legacy of love that is carried on through their daughters, Tracy Wilson and husband John of Woodville, Texas, and Penny Estes and husband Joe of Elkhart, Texas. Ronny was a cherished brother to Pam Blackmon and husband Pat; to his brothers, Larry Bridges and wife Belinda, and Eddie Bridges and wife Nita, all of Elkhart, Texas. Ronny's role as “Papaw” was one of his greatest joys. His grandchildren Carter Wilson, Abby Wilson, Landon Estes, and Presley Estes were the light of his life. He took great pride in each of their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them. His love and guidance will continue to be a guiding force in their lives. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
